Bioplastics to fight climate change

Universidad Austral (Argentina) '21

Problem:

According to the Climate Reality Leadership Project, Petrochemicals are rapidly becoming the largest driver of global oil consumption, set to account for ⅓ of growth in oil demand to 202, and nearly half to 2050, ahead of truck, aviation and shipping. 75% of petrochemical production is for the manufacturing of plastic. Just 20 companies produce most of the world´s waste from single-use plastics.

Idea:

Promote the usage of usage of natural resources such as corn to design bioplastic materials able to replace environment polluting non biodegradable plastics, along with the design of products similar to single-use plastics and promoting legal frameworks.
