LU&CA PLANTAE

Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (Perú)

Problem:

People's mental health was severely affected during the pandemic, many of whom have not been diagnosed, and those who do, do not necessarily have access to therapies that can help improve their symptoms, usually because access to psychiatrists or psychologists is very expensive, and even when they can access the public system they usually do not have the means to buy the required medicines. In Peru, the MINSA 2021 has treated 132 thousand cases of depression, and 261 thousand for anxiety.

Idea:

LU&CA PLANTAE, will present horticultural therapy, which benefits in areas such as physical, metal and social health, according to Víctor Herrera in 2018; which offers the consumer, at low cost, varieties of plants from succulent, aromatic to aquatic, each with a specific care manual and easy to understand. Also, the initiative allows to be part of a community of people with a common interest in horticulture and through which they can exchange experiences, knowledge and expand their social circle

Main Beneficiaries:

This project aims to be an option mainly for those people suffering from depression (a total of 313,455 cases of Peruvians), anxiety (261197 Peruvians) and stress (more than half of Lima), which can be treated with holistic therapies or alternatives such as hortitherapy, this being more economical and accessible.

Stage:

Execution and validation

the idea is very interesting because it helps people with anxiety, depression and stress. With the Horticola therapy that is less expensive than normal therapies; having excellent benefits in physical areas (increasing daily activity and self-esteem), mental (decreases mental health problems, since it disconnects people from negative thoughts) and social (creating new interpersonal relationships and strengthening others).
