OstheoGlove

Pontificia Universidad Católica (Chile)

Problem:

The problem we seek to solve is the lack of kinesiological care for adults over 50 years of age who suffer from hand osteoarthritis and cannot attend a health center in person. Specifically, we are trying to solve the lack of kinesiological treatment due to the shortage of medical hours or the difficulty of transportation to the medical center. Therefore, we seek to provide a regular and simple therapy from home.

Idea:

Our solution is called OstheoGlove, a set of two gloves and a mobile app. The glove consists of two parts. An internal and tight-fitting glove, which has TENS electrostimulation, compression and generates heat, and an external glove that will have an exoskeleton, which helps to guide and facilitate hand exercises that will be operated by a mobile app via bluetooth. The application will have routines previously created by kinesiologists and a premium subscription for personalized attention.

Main Beneficiaries:

The beneficiaries will be people over 50 years old who have symptoms of hand osteoarthritis that can’t go or schedule appointments with a kinesiologist or occupational therapist to receive proper treatment. This way they will be able to get good and reliable treatment from the comfort of their home.
