Problem:

Teachers are overworked by all the different tasks subject to teaching. Planning is one of them, and it is the most important because it defines what you're going to teach and how you'll teach it. Planning a standard class of 45 minutes takes approximately another 45 minutes, and this time increases exponentially with innovative classes. This situation leads to a general lack of innovation that haunts our educational systems. This is the main problem we want to solve: more time to innovate.

Idea:

Our project automatizes part of the main problem using AI: class planning. We use NLP models, AI and the official education curriculum to eliminate the monotonous task of searching and sorting all the appropriate objectives, achievement indicators and contents, give ideas for the activities, and allow teachers to innovate. With this, it is possible to see teachers rise to the challenge of transforming the educational system, designing instruments for each of their students learning needs.

Main Beneficiaries:

Our project would benefit about 110,000 teachers who give all they have to teach their students to their best abilities, given them a tool designed to tackle one of 21st century's problems within the education system. It would also benefit a significant share of the 2.6 million students enrolled in the Dominican educational system. Their teachers will have more time to innovate and create the activities, resources and evaluations suited for them. At the same time, it would benefit a sizable part of the 10,000 schools present in the Dominican Republic, allowing them to have more engaged teachers, happier students, giving them a way to see what AI can do for them and introducing them to the future of education. Lastly, but not less important, it would impact the Ministry of Education. One of the key aspects of their administration is ensuring that teachers are planning their classes correctly, and teaching what they planned. Our idea would be a relief for the personnel, giving them a way to see, in real time, what did the teachers plan.
