Problem:

The textile industry is one of the biggest polluters worldwide due to the toxic waste produced by clothing factories. On the other hand, every year millions of tons of textiles are thrown away that could be renewed and reused.

Idea:

Reuse used or old clothing items to redesign them and reduce to some extent the ecological impact of the textile industry, as well as work together with local artisans to provide opportunities.

Main Beneficiaries:

Our entrepreneurship aims to help local workers in Ecuador who are in need of well-paid jobs. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), non-standard employment is a significant challenge in many countries, including Ecuador. Non-standard employment refers to employment arrangements that are not permanent, full-time, or provide social protection benefits. This type of employment is often associated with low wages, poor working conditions, and limited access to social protection. This approach can help to reduce youth unemployment, which is a significant challenge in many countries, including Ecuador. Also, our business aims to benefit organizations too like "Vistiendo Sonrisas" by using old clothes that are not useful for them. We will use these clothes and part of our profits will be given to them. This approach is a win-win situation for both our business and the charitable organization. Our business can use the old clothes to create new products, while the charitable organization can receive financial support to continue their work.
