AQUALIBRE

Universidad San Francisco de Quito USFQ

Problem:

The problem that seeks to be solved is the lack of drinking water for low-income people in the capital of Ecuador. The problem we face is the high water rate, which has led many people to an economic crossroads where their income is not enough to cover this basic resource. This situation has forced a segment of the population to resort to contaminated water sources or of dubious quality to meet their daily hydration needs.

Idea:

Offer free water in tetrapacks that will be distributed through vending machines (that have facial recognition) located in strategic areas of the towns. Each person will have access to a 2.5 liter bottle of water once a week and we as an AQUALIBRE company will replenish the water and collect the bottles for subsequent recycling.

Main Beneficiaries:

Low-income people living in remote areas of Quito. The pilot test would begin in a city of Quito called Carapungo, which has more than 40 thousand inhabitants. The beneficiaries would be the people who live in the most needy areas of Carapungo.
