Oryza Bottles

Problem:

We want to reduce the amount of plastic bottles students use on campus. Many universities do not encourage their students to have reusable water bottles so they are accustomed to buying plastic bottles instead of refilling them on free water stations. Plastic water consumption is an extreme issue we need to solve, so we want to find alternatives to help combat the crisis.

Idea:

A solution we have come up with, is the development of a decomposable water bottle made with rice peel. We researched possible organic materials that can replace plastic and rice peel and glue are excellent hydrophilic conductors.

Main Beneficiaries:

If universities and societies start implement and alternative to the use of plastic bottles, then it will benefit the entire world. The excessive use of plastic affects everyone, so helping reducing the amount of waste will help slow down the climate crisis we are all currently facing.
